A Private Basket Weaving Gathering
Underwater Weaving is a basket atelier, creative weaving studio, and community. It makes hand woven, one-of-a-kind contemporary baskets for the trade, retail and private commission. Through group weaving gatherings it endeavors to revive the craft of basketry, encourage creative freedom, and offer access to mediation through hand-mind connectivity and craft.
Founder and Creative Director Erin Pollard learned to make baskets by observing her mother as a child in Maine and rediscovered the craft as an adult when her son found a bundle of reed under the bed. Together Erin and her mother now design and hand weave one-of-a-kind art and seasonal collections.
Underwater Weaving has collaborated with brands including Maria McManus, Ulla Johnson, Lingua Franca, Gigi Burris and Loeffler Randall. The work has been featured in Vogue Living, Courier Della Sera Living, and Feel Free Magazine.
The Experience at a Glance:
- A private basket weaving gathering for up to 5 guests at a private residence.
- Each guest will make a rattan hand basket and arrange seasonal florals.
- No weaving experience is required, and all the necessary supplies and materials will be provided. Larger parties quote upon request.
- 1 Basket per guest, florals and ribbon
- Duration: 2 to 3 hours
