THE VISION OF
Expelled from school as a teenager, Louboutin’s interest in shoes trumped that of his studies, and a portfolio of sketches resulted in employment at Parisian design house Charles Jourdan. From there, the French apprentice-turned-designer went on to create intricately detailed evening shoes for Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent. Having perfected the art of the high heel, Louboutin launched his own brand in 1991. The infamous red sole followed two years later.
