As part of a renegade group of rule-breaking Belgians, the Antwerp-based designer has never been one for trends or passing whims. In fact, ever since her 1998 debut, her collections have been marked by her fellow countrymen’s reputation for bold insouciance. This latest Paris Fashion Week showing saw a motley array of pieces underscoring Branquinho’s strengths. In subdued tones of black and cream, flowing dresses were imbued with a gothic Victorian streak. Elsewhere, intricate macramé fringe and sheer layers with visible corsetry highlighted her knack for innovative executions. Amidst the other runways filled with springtime cheer, Branquinho certainly stood out from the crowd.
