Although it was launched just earlier this year, MATE has already made its mark on the industry. Credit the buzz to Creative Director Marco Teso’s desire to establish an entirely new fashion category: fur-to-wear. What is that exactly? According to Teso, expanding fur beyond outwear, while also injecting it with a street-style twist. For proof of that, look no further than the latest collection, which includes fur sweatshirts and several great denim options, most notably a phenomenal bomber with curly shearling lining. Even so, the highlight of the season was certainly Teso’s unique approach to fur intarsia, arriving as rainbow-streaked minks, geometric patterned overcoats reminiscent of après-ski, and some wildly textured pastel pieces that came color blocked and striped. With a collection so versatile and fresh, it’s easy to see why MATE has already landed on the fashion radar.
