MARIA FRERING

For her debut collection, Rio de Janeiro-based Maria Frering imbues her line of 18K gold-plated sterling silver jewelry with the rich colors and traditional craftsmanship native to her hometown. Each piece marries natural, Brazilian gemstones—from topaz and citrine to amethyst and grenade—with Egyptian cotton that’s cross-stitch embroidered on metal. The result is at once chunky and robust yet delicate and entirely unique. Note: all of the embroidery is created by hand by female artisans in collaboration with social company COOPA-ROCA.
Editors’ pick: the Double Drop earrings embroidered with red and orange Egyptian cotton and finished with topaz and amethyst.
