Limited Edition, 1965 - Audrey Hepburn, Venice, Print
Academy award winner Yul Brynner (1920-1985) was not only an actor and director but also a talented photographer. This print is Estate Stamped and numbered. Edition available is number 2 of 8 from Victoria Brynner - the founder of Stage117 and the curator of The Yul Brynner photography collection.
"I am always amazed by the quality of the images and how contemporary they feel” Victoria elaborates. “My father used photography as a way to stay creative. While on film sets he strolled amongst friends and crew with several Leica’s slung around his neck. His images reveal how comfortable his subjects are in his presence…” These exceptional images span a period from the 50’s to the 70’s and have been published and shown internationally in galleries and museums. The book Yul Brynner Photographic Journey published by Karl Lagerfeld’s 7L and Steidl is now out of print and a collectors item. The selection made for Moda Operandi is for the most part lifestyle images capturing holidays, travels and friends. Sinatra hoping off his Helicopter in Palm Springs Scotch in hand, Audrey Hepburn in a gondola in Venice during a friends week end, Elizabeth Taylor poolside in Beverly Hills, Sophie Litvak at the Races in Deauville and Salvador Dali painting Amanda Lear in Cadaques (Spain). “I also love the self-portrait in his dressing room getting ready for The King and I on Broadway – a selfie ahead of his times! The Glass study he was most proud of is this image” says Victoria Brynner.
