“I wanted to play [with] mixing the magic of my Mediterranean roots and my American Dream,” says Fausto Puglisi of this latest season. The Sicily native—who only showed his first Milan Fashion Week collection in 2013—has rapidly become known for his flamboyant embellishments and rich cultural references. Staying true to his essence, for spring the designer proposed a vibrant mash-up of Roman mythology, Texas cowgirl, and California cool. Goddess-style silk jersey frocks luxuriously draped over the body—a nod to two of the designer’s idols, Halston and Madame Grès. Encrusted cowboy boots (a doubtless highlight) complemented the rodeo-style red, white, and blue satin shirts. And with intricate seashell accents gracing everything from footwear to flirty numbers, Puglisi’s boundary-breaking talent for big, bold craftsmanship displayed itself in all its glory.
