1. The RUGGED BOOT

This season’s key boot style is flat, reaches to (at least) the calf, and features a tough, stompy sole. Imagine a roughed-up equestrian style, drained of its preppy preciousness by way of faded leather and feisty hardware. Enter: Coperni’s Belt Cavalier Boot, a near perfect balance of polish and edge. Khaite’s intentionally distressed Clive is the season’s top seller so far. It’s closely followed by Simkhai’s Noah (which walked the runway with both tucked-in trousers and mini dresses and is available in two heights to better suit a range of leg lengths—hurrah). The Row’s sits at the sleek end of the spectrum, while Golden Goose offers more rustic versions.
