The MUZUNGU
SISTERS
They may not be sisters, but Tatiana Santo Domingo and Dana Alikhani—the duo behind the eclectic, soulful homeware line newly debuted on Moda—do have something of a sisterly bond. The two initially connected over their profound belief in artisanal craft, fair labor practices, and love of travel—and it’s these shared predilections that form the lifeblood of their brand, Muzungu Sisters.
Launched in 2011, the label made a name for itself with its wanderlust-inducing frocks threaded with rich cultural ties. Now, Tatiana and Dana are bringing their mission to their first-ever line of homeware—think: finely embroidered table linens from Southern India as well as hand-painted ceramic tableware and Murano glassware.
No strangers to travel, the duo’s mission to help preserve age-old yet dying crafts and empower small-scale factories brings them to sensational, if less-frequented, corners of the world. Here, they gives us an inside look at the collection, share their non-negotiable packing tips, and reveal their all-time favorite destinations.
