Congratulations on your first runway show – Paris Fashion Week is primetime. Does seeing your collection on the runway make you think about it differently?
HP:
Yes, totally. It feels way more real now. More serious! Seeing it on a stage as grand as Paris, there's more pressure. I could literally feel the eyeballs. Now I'm thinking deeper about my collections’ distinct identity and driving that home. Nailing it for the runway photos. I guess all of this different thinking is great for growth. I can’t wait for the next show. I think I learned a lot with this one.

What appeals to you about the Moda model of selling product almost immediately after runway shows?
HP:
Putting the customer in charge instead of the buyer. It’s amazing to have access to a full collection as a consumer – and not have selections filtered by what industry professionals deem worthy.
MODA:
You've consistently made environmental sustainability a priority in your collections–can you talk about the relationship you see between fashion and sustainability?
HP:
Well the world isn’t in the best shape. There isn’t any better time to act than now. Everyone can do their part, and it shouldn’t be seen as this non-sexy thing to do. It should actually be the standard way of working. This will become the standard.
MODA:
The collection is inspired by airport security, an all-too-familiar experience for anyone working in fashion. What's the single craziest travel experience you've had in your career?
HP:
One time I had traveled and was awake for about 24 hours, and went from meetings to a dinner party into drinks and parties. I had an early flight the next day, like 6 AM, so I decided to pull an all nighter. When I got to the airport I was pretty out of it. In the security line just before the metal detectors, I started to put my stuff into trays: laptop, keys, cell phone…. Then I had a belt on so I started to take that off for the x-ray. Once I took my belt off, I started to take my pants off! When I got my pants down to my ankles I immediately snapped out of it and pulled my pants back up and quickly looked around to see if anyone had noticed. Luckily no one did or at least acted like they didn't! I guess in my head I was already home.
