Just to be clear, we don’t only wear caftans in the Middle East. Blowing the stereotype of the Middle Eastern woman out of the water once and for all finally came to fruition last week, with a traffic-stopping cavalcade through Dubai followed by a fabulous dinner in the desert.

But the burning question remains, what did everyone wear? Well, Lauren chose chic florals from Brock (roundly coveted by all in attendance) which she paired with an embellished Dolce bag. She looked amazing, per usual. However the leather trousers (yes, we do love our all-weather leather—even in 98-degree heat), flat gladiators and maxi dresses on display represented the melting pot of demographics and sartorial tastes that has come to define Middle Eastern fashion. Apart from instilling a sense of freedom of choice, such diversity carried an important message about the power of camaraderie and the breaking down of stereotypes (see: we don't only wear caftans). Or as Lauren so perfectly put it when speaking at dinner, "In the end, we're all the same"—meaning there's more that unites us than our love of fashion.
