MALAIKA
Cairo brand Malaika returns with another exquisite offering of homeware boasting beautiful designs inspired by Egypt’s Mamluk period—a time that was rich in Arab culture and artwork. All linens are hand-embroidered—with local palms and fauna as well as florals that nod to Ancient Egyptian tiling—by the women whom Malaika’s founding duo train in embroidery. Also of note is the corded embroidery (a technique popularized by the Mamluks) across pillows and placemats, brass vases painstakingly inlaid by skilled artisans in Old Cairo, and richly colored pottery handmade by talented potters in Fayoum.
