When she couldn’t find stylish surf gear, Cynthia Rowley decided to design her own. What began as a line of wetsuits eventually spawned a full-fledged ready-to-wear label centered upon Rowley’s love for the ocean. This spring follows suit with a free-spirited collection shot along the beaches of Montauk, New York. A ’60s current pulsed through the lineup in the form of high hemlines, sequined pastiches, and Pop Art prints. Although the feel was old school, the look was anything but retro. Contemporary touches ushered in a modern spirit, as sweet pastel crops paired with a sequined jacket and A-line shapes delighted in wildly fringed texture. It was fresh, fun, and exactly what we've come to expect from the designer know for graphic prints and high-octane color.
