It was only his sixth season at New York Fashion Week, but up-and-coming designer Adam Selman has captured the downtown crowd’s attention via clothes that boast a streetwear bent. For his latest runway show, however, Selman traded in his signature edge for a collection infused with a tropical streak. Inspired by a recent trip to Hawaii, Selman cast a sartorial ode to an oceanfront expanse that once housed a 1970s hippie colony. Breezy floral slip dresses and effortless denim rompers arrived alongside crisp white separates accented with inside-out details, while delicate flower appliqués enlivened sweaters and flared jeans. Though a beachy vibe definitely pervaded the lineup, it was still a shining example of Selman’s flair for modern cool.
