Sylvana Ward Durrett

Originally hailing from Los Angeles, Sylvana is Vogue’s longtime Special Projects Director (she organizes the Met Gala) and the cofounder of Maisonette. She currently lives in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, and has three children: Henry, 6, Gracie, 3, and her youngest, Millie, who will soon be turning one. 
 
“Depending on how many children come into my bed in the middle of the night, I get anywhere between four and six hours sleep.”

Back tickles solve every problem.

Watching animated children’s films. “Madagascar 2” is top of my list.

Travel with my husband and a few close friends.
Top tip for new moms? 
Make a little “me” time, even if it’s just 30 minutes so you retain not only positivity but also your identity.
The book you read with your kids? 
Roald Dahl. A childhood favorite. Never gets old, never gets boring, always a guaranteed laugh or a lesson.
Most used baby item?
Anais Swaddle Cloths made from the softest Muslin—they double up as stroller blankets.

Long showers. It’s just so easy to just get in and stay in there—and your kids know they can’t get to you.

I am a pescatarian, but during pregnancy I would CRAVE cheeseburgers (and eat them).

Cups of sweet milky tea and home cooked dinners in the early fragile weeks.

It’s never too early for matchy-matchy!

Some guilt free zzz's.

Lambie! A a cloth toy who has been chewed to bits and lovingly passed on between siblings as a comforter.

My InStyle co-workers sent me a huge variety of prepared foods from Zabar's, which was unexpected but also a lifesaver when the thought of cooking seemed impossible and I was ravenously hungry form nursing.
