Where to eat: Housed in the sunken courtyard of the Fortazela hotel is a peaceful lunch destination, giving way to a sparkling dinner locale.

 

What to do: At the oldest hotel in Asia is the best spa in Galle: The Baths at Amangalla. The on-site Ayurveda doctor cleanses and detoxes patients.

Mo’orea, French Polynesia

Where to eat: Enjoy fried buns at Yaba ShengJian, literally translated as Mute Guy’s fried bun. The decadent fried dumplings at this local street-food joint are among the best in town.
