Born in Tokyo but raised in New York, designer Hanako Maeda melds the daring creativity of the former with the street edge of the latter. An art history and anthropology graduate, her love for fashion developed out of internships at Vogue and 3.1 Phillip Lim, which she then turned into a capsule collection of 15 pieces that debuted in 2011. Showing at New York Fashion Week since 2013, her East-meets-West take on the hyper-luxe has earned her a place on our radar.
